Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction is done under IV sedation and local or general anaesthesia (GA).
The surgeon makes two or three tiny 6 mm incisions at discreet locations, and inserts the cannulas to suck out the fat. The procedure can last from one to three hours depending on the areas that need to be addressed and the amount of fat that needs to be removed.
The operated area will feel tight and quite sore for a few days. You will be given painkillers to make you comfortable, initially injections and then tablets.
There is likely to be a certain amount of bruising visible in the skin.
You will have to wear an elastic compression garment for at least three weeks.
Most people will be able to leave hospital the same or next day.
When you return home, you should take life very slowly and be extra careful for the first week. Thereafter you may resume work, but you should avoid any lifting, stretching or strenuous exercise for at least three weeks.
