Forehead and Brow Lift Recovery
Brow Lift surgery can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on the type of procedure being done.
It can be done as a day care procedure under local anesthesia in most cases, but may also be done under general anesthesia.
Following the surgery, you will feel numbness in the forehead, with some amount of bruising, swelling and discomfort.
You should avoid any strenuous activity that for the first few days, and sleep with your head raised. You should not use any skin products like creams, lotions, etc, or even hair products for a week or so. You will usually be able to wash your hair right after 48 hours.
Complete internal healing takes upto six to eight weeks and you can resume your full normal activities after this period.
Complications
The commonest problem during recovery is swelling and bruising, which tends to disappear within a week or two.
Hematomas may occur when blood clots form just beneath the skin. These usually disappear after a while but can also be removed with a needle.
Scars can stretch or become prominent. There may be some thinning of hair around the scars, but this usually resolves in a few months.
Infections do occur, although rarely.
There will be numbness of the forehead area after surgery, but this also resolves in a few months. In rare cases, this numbness may be permanent.
Though these complications are minor, they can still happen even under the best operating circumstances.
