Vaser Liposelection - Procedure

Liposuction is done under IV sedation and local or general anaesthesia (GA).

The surgeon makes a few tiny incisions at strategic places so as to be concealed by the undergarments. The area to be addressed is filled with a special solution to help make the site numb and prevent bleeding. A small ultrasound probe is introduced, which transmits sound energy to fragment fatty tissue on contact while leaving other tissues largely intact. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimize damage to surrounding tissues.

The procedure can last from one to four hours depending on the areas that need to be addressed and the amount of fat that needs to be removed.

Recovery

The operated area will feel sore for a day or so. You will be given painkillers to make you comfortable, initially injections and then tablets.

There is likely to be a small amount of bruising visible in the skin.

You will have to wear an elastic compression garment for at least two weeks.

Most people will be able to leave hospital the same or next day. When you return home, you should take life very slowly and be extra careful for the two days. Thereafter you may resume work, but you should avoid any lifting, stretching or strenuous exercise for at least two weeks.
